Che cosa dicono gli animali? Animal noises in Italian!

Zebra

Did you know that humans aren’t the only creatures with different languages? One of the more enjoyable details about learning a new language is learning how animals talk.

Pigs, for instance, say “oink oink” in English, but they say “groin groin” in French and “хрю хрю” (khryu khryu) in Russian. Dogs say “vau-vau” in Hungarian, “guk guk” in Indonesian, and “ham ham” in Romanian!

Today, we’re going to learn how animals speak in Italian.

Le api ronzano. Fanno il suono “zzzzz.”

Gli uccelli cinguettano. Fanno “cip cip”.

Ha ha! This reminds me of when I heard a kid looking at ducks and saying
“Fak, fak, fak ,fak”. Trying saying it quickly, and you’ll see why I was surprised ;-)

Ah, yes…. I’ve heard that before. Apparently it catches a lot of people by surprise.

I’ve noticed this before, it’s hilarious! The really funny part is you can tell that the animal being imitated, its noise, has been give a sort of ‘accent’ in the language in question! For example, the Spanish imitation of a dog’s bark SOUNDS Spanish, the German imitation SOUNDS German. The speakers of the language have imparted their own accent to the animal in question–it’s kinda cute, actually :D

    Cheers,
    Andrew
