My "complete world traveler" language list

I’ve often dreamed about being able to go anywhere and talk to anyone, hoping that one day I would eventually become something somewhere in-between a polyglot and an omniglot, and travel freely throughout the world on my own terms. After doing a little bit of research, I’ve come up with a list of eight languages that allow you to cover most of the world.

My visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan

If my posts have seemed canned for the past week, or if you’ve noticed a lack of follow-ups on your comments, it’s because I’ve been away for the past week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan…

My video from Tashkent

Last week I was in Uzbekistan, and I wrote about that a few days ago. I recently finised editing the video I had taken while I was there, and I’ve compiled a short report about my visit.

The new "About Me" page

Things are off to a good start here, but I think there’s something that’s still missing. Learning all of these languages is neat for a web site, but it’s not the reason I do it. So it should come as no surprise that when looking for iPad apps, I…

Seven New England states in a weekend

If you’ve looked at my bucket list, you know that one of my goals is to visit all 50 states of the US. And even though it’s not spelled out, I intend to complete that goal before the end of next year. Well, I just returned from a whirlwind journey through seven states in 3…

Travel light – pack for a week with only a backpack!

Today I’m leaving for a fabulous week in Barcelona, and as usual, I’m traveling light. I’ll have everything I need in a single backpack. When you travel, less is more. By that, I mean that having to carry less offers me the freedom to do more. While everyone else is standing around a luggage carousel,…

Why I don’t pinch my travel pennies

I just returned from my week in Barcelona, and the trip was quite enjoyable. However it was also a very interesting lesson in contrasts. Different carriers provide a very different experience.…
